The Miguel Hernández University (UMH) has awarded the Aitana 2022 Award to Dr. Annette La Greca, a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami, in the United States. The Aitana 2022 Award is in recognition of her career in the field of child and adolescent psychology. Much of her research work has focused on studying the effects of peer victimization on adolescents, as well as the impact of disasters on the psychological and physical health of children and families.
In addition, Dr. La Greca has published more than 300 articles and book chapters and has written 17 books. She is the author of such works as After the Storm: A Guide to Helping Children Cope with the Aftermath of Hurricanes and Helping Children and Families Cope with the COVID-19 Pandemic. Her therapeutic materials for disaster parenting, including one in the aftermath of 9/11, have been disseminated to more than 40 million families in the United States and around the world.
