A recent study carried out by Mireia Orgiles, Marina Serrano-Ortiz, Jose Pedro Espada and Alexandra Morales analyzed how the school closure due to COVID-19 affected Spanish children and adolescents upon returning to classrooms.<\/span><\/span> The research found that stressful events such as social distancing (experienced by 87% of participants), contact with the virus and bullying were related to higher levels of anxiety in young people.<\/span><\/span> It was found that those who reduced their social contact and were bullied showed more difficulties in their school adjustment.<\/span><\/span> Anxiety acted as a key factor in this process.<\/span><\/span> The study highlights the need to emotionally support young people during their return to school after the pandemic.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n
